Le <\/span>Nymphaea ‘Sulphurea Okeechobee’<\/strong> est un grand n\u00e9nuphar rustique \u00e0 fleurs jaune soufre \u00e9toil\u00e9es et au feuillage marbr\u00e9 de pourpre<\/mark>. Issu d’un croisement naturel entre le Nymphaea mexicana<\/em> et le Nymphaea odorata<\/em>, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert dans le lac Okeechobee en Floride et introduit sur le march\u00e9 vers 2000.‘Sulphurea Okeechobee’. Ce n\u00e9nuphar rustique a \u00e9t\u00e9 commercialis\u00e9 en 2000 par FAN (Florida Aquatic Nurseries).<\/span><\/p>\n

Son d\u00e9couvreur est le Dr David L. Sutton, phytopathologiste \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 de Floride. Il l’a trouv\u00e9 dans le lac Okeechobee, en Floride, et on pense qu’il s’agit d’un hybride naturel des esp\u00e8ces sauvages Nymphaea odorata et Nymphaea mexicana. Cependant, contrairement \u00e0 Moon Dance, \u00e9galement d\u00e9couvert dans le lac Okeechobee, son nom pr\u00eate \u00e0 confusion.\u00a0FAN, le distributeur, le pr\u00e9sente comme une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 cultiv\u00e9e d’une esp\u00e8ce sauvage, or Nymphaea sulphurea est un n\u00e9nuphar tropical\u00a0; cette appellation est donc erron\u00e9e. Le nom Sulphurea Okeechobee\u00a0<\/span>est\u00a0<\/span><\/em>une<\/span><\/em>\u00a0combinaison inhabituelle de prononciation latine et anglaise en katakana. En d’autres termes, cette esp\u00e8ce est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 horticole. \u00c0 proprement parler, taxonomiquement parlant, elle devrait \u00eatre class\u00e9e comme Nymphaea x thiona, incluant Charlene Strawn et Moondance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ses fleurs, inspir\u00e9es d’Odorata, pr\u00e9sentent un m\u00e9lange de blanc et de jaune (Mexicana), donnant une couleur entre le jaune citron p\u00e2le et le cr\u00e8me. Ses feuilles flottantes arborent des motifs d\u00e9riv\u00e9s de Mexicana, mais il s’agit d’une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 robuste ayant h\u00e9rit\u00e9 des meilleures qualit\u00e9s de ses deux parents. Sa floraison est abondante et elle peut \u00eatre cultiv\u00e9e comme une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de taille moyenne. Bien qu’elle n’ait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e intentionnellement comme n\u00e9nuphar, elle est facile \u00e0 cultiver et constitue un excellent choix.<\/span><\/div>\n
