Son beau feuillage, qui s&rsquo;ouvre en \u00e9ventail, est un bel atout pour cette plante qui donne de tr\u00e8s belles fleurs l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 venu.<br \/>\nLes\u00a0<em>trimezias<\/em>\u00a0sont des plantes\u00a0herbac\u00e9es\u00a0qui se propagent par\u00a0rhizomes. Les feuilles simples,\u00a0alternes\u00a0sont semblables \u00e0 celles des iris,\u00a0de 40 \u00e0 60\u00a0cm de longueur pour 2 \u00e0 4\u00a0cm de large. Elles sont\u00a0lanc\u00e9ol\u00e9es\u00a0avec un bord entier. La hauteur du<em>\u00a0trimezia martinisensis<\/em>\u00a0adulte se situe entre 0,40\u00a0et 1\u00a0m.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0jolies fleurs odorantes\u00a0<\/strong>qui se fanent apr\u00e8s 24 \u00e0 48\u00a0h. Celles-ci \u00e9mergent au bout de ce qui semble \u00eatre une nouvelle feuille, mais qui est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 un long p\u00e9doncule structur\u00e9. Chaque fleur fait de 3\u00a0\u00e0 5\u00a0cm de diam\u00e8tre, et ressemble \u00e0 un croisement entre une fleur d&rsquo;iris et d&rsquo;orchid\u00e9e(d&rsquo;o\u00f9 son surnom d&rsquo;\u00ab\u00a0orchid\u00e9e du pauvre\u00a0\u00bb). M\u00eame si leur p\u00e9doncule est arqu\u00e9, elles ont la t\u00eate toujours orient\u00e9e vers le haut. Elles se composent de 3\u00a0grands\u00a0s\u00e9pales\u00a0et 3\u00a0plus petits p\u00e9tales souvent r\u00e9curv\u00e9s.
